What a great year for publishing! A ton of amazing books. I am curious how long books were in production then? I know these days traditional publishing is quite slow. I suppose it's possible they were faster back then, since there were fewer authors?
Very interesting and I am looking forward to your reviews. I didn't know at all that E.T. and Schindler's List were based on books!
It really was a good year for books in my opinion. The book E.T. was actually a novelization of the movie, so it was most likely published around the time the movie was originally released in theaters and therefore not actually based on a book. I don't know for sure how long books were in production back then. The closest I've gotten to figuring it out for these books is the fact that Schindler's List took only about a year or two to write. Given the subject matter, it would have seemed like a novel that took much longer to write, so that seems impressive to me. Also, some authors like Stephen King or popular series like Sweet Valley High and The Babysitters' Club would get multiple books a year published, so maybe you’re right about the process having been quicker back then. I hope you can get around to reading some of these novels and that you'll enjoy my reviews for them!
